The Baseball Analyst is holding a contest for a chance at winning one of five available MLB Johan Santana No Hitter DVD's. Entries must be received no later than July 30, 2012 11pm EST. Back in 1962 at the Polo Grounds, Al Jackson tossed the Mets first one-hitter. In 1970 over a span of 28 days, Tom Seaver, Nolan Ryan and Gary Gentry each held the opposition to one hit.  The list of one-hit wonders would go on: Dwight Gooden and David Cone, Terry Leach’s 10-inning one-hitter and Steve Trachsel’s two one-hitters in the same year. Fifty years of tantalizingly close performances – making Santana’s achievement all the more gratifying.

Johan Santana "The Man" As He Blanks The Redlegs 3-0!

Johan Santana took matters into his own hands tonight. With whispers of his demise by all NY Rags, Johan Santana quieted the potent offense of the Cincinnati Reds on a 113 pitch, three hit, compete game shutout. Johan, who takes pride in all facets of his game, hit the RF foul pole for his first Major League homerun. With runners on second and third in the 6th inning Jason Bay made Dusty Baker pay for leaving in lefty starter Matt Maloney. His two run single gave the Mets a three run lead. The team sparkled in the field as David Wright, playing like a GG third baseman, and Ike Davis making nice plays in the field.

The New York Mets looked to get out of Dodge last night after salvaging the final game of their three game set with the Florida Marlins. The Marlins had beaten the Mets six straight games on the road this year and consider the Mets lucky to get out having avoided the sweep. Josh Thole hit his third consecutive pinch hit single to break a 4-4 tie game in the 6th inning.

Santana, Mets outlast Indians 7-6

Johan Santana overcame a rocky start and pitched 7 sturdy innings for his 5th victory of the year. The Mets beat the Indians 7-6, as Ike Davis' two run 5th inning homer proved to be the game winner. Jose Reyes got things going in the first inning, scoring from third on a David Wright infield single.The Misadventures of the Indians infield manifested itself in a 5 run fifth, capped by Reyes' mad dash home from 2nd base on an infield single by David Wright..

Mets continue to stink on the road. Blow another Santana start.

With a chance at a .500 road trip, and their first road series win, The Mets failed miserably. Frankie K failed to close out a one run lead in the night as the Fu@*in pesky David Eckstein was able to slap a seeing eye single into center field to tie the game in the ninth. Once again, the putrid and inconsistent Mets offense could not muster anything to back another stellar outing from ace Johan Santana.  He is now on pace to win just twelve games this year, instead of having a chance at winning twenty games.

Bay Explodes as Mets beat Yankees 6-4!

Jason Bay is on fuego! Smashing homes runs to both left and right center field, Bay is now earning his all star outfielder status. With his average up to .307, it couldn't have come at a better time. With David Wright still struggling with runners on base, The Mets need someone from the middle of the order to get hot. Jose Reyes also seems to be heating up with two hits in three of his last four games. Johan Santana continued his strong pitching by picking up his 4th win of the year. KRod struck out Alex Rodriguez with two runners on to end the game for The Mets. The Mets will play the rival Philadelphia Phillies in a three game set beginning Tuesday night.
